In order to reduce deficits, New York's MTA board approved rate hikes that will see $2.50 bus and subway rides, among others. In a series of three 12-1 votes, the board also approved deep service cuts and layoffs, and the suspension of its five-year expansion and upgrade plan. A $50 million lawsuit by the family of a man that shot and killed by a former police officer and others involved in the indecent. John Burris is the attorney of the victim's Family has filled double of what he originally asked for its legal claim after learning more about the shooting of 22-year old Oscar Grant III. The lawsuit will be against former Officer Johanes Mehserle, the bart police along with his old buddies involved. Philippine-based Lorenzo Shipping Corporation announced that it will renew its collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with its labor union, PTGWO-PMWU, after three months of intensive negotiations. The two parties have agreed on improved economic conditions regarding the provisions on the 2009 and 2010 periods of its contract.
